Question 1

What services does Nunavut Moving & Services provide?

Accepted Answer

We offer a full range of moving and logistics services including residential and commercial moving, professional packing and unpacking, furniture assembly, warehousing and storage, parcel and final-mile delivery, mail and confidential document handling, sealift cargo preparation, air cargo coordination, and Inuit art and specialized item handling.

Question 2

Do you handle government and institutional relocations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We have extensive experience working with federal, territorial, and municipal organizations. Our work has included Government of Nunavut employee relocations, CIRNAC, CanNor, Elections Canada, and the 2021 Census. We understand the documentation, scheduling, confidentiality, and accountability requirements that come with government contracts.

Question 3

Can you move Inuit artwork and other fragile or valuable items?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Inuit artwork is culturally and financially valuable — and often irreplaceable. We provide careful packing, crating, handling, storage, and transportation support for artwork and other fragile or high-value items. Each piece is assessed individually so the right handling approach is used.

Question 4

Do you offer warehousing and storage in Iqaluit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide warehousing and storage solutions in Iqaluit for individuals, businesses, government organizations, and project-based logistics. We can receive, inventory, stage, store, and arrange final delivery when you're ready.

Question 5

Do you provide parcel and mail delivery services?

Accepted Answer

Yes. NMS has been involved in parcel and mail delivery in Iqaluit since 2016. Since 2019, we have handled FedEx ground parcels, including cargo collection, sorting, tracking, and final-mile delivery. We also provide mail pickup and delivery services, including confidential document handling for government clients.

Question 6

How do I get a quote?

Accepted Answer

The easiest way is to use the quote request form on our website. You can also reach us by email at info@nunamoving.com. We'll follow up to discuss your project and provide a quote based on your specific needs.

Question 7

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for larger moves or projects with fixed dates. Northern logistics can involve tight cargo schedules, limited availability, and seasonal constraints. The more lead time we have, the better we can plan and coordinate your move.

Question 8

Do you provide free quotes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide free quotes for all services. Contact us with the details of your project and we'll get back to you with pricing information.

Question 9

Can you accommodate last-minute or urgent moves?

Accepted Answer

We do our best to accommodate urgent requests depending on our current schedule and availability. Contact us as soon as possible and we'll let you know what we can do.

Question 10

Do I need to pack my own belongings, or can you do it for me?

Accepted Answer

We offer full professional packing and unpacking services — you don't need to pack anything yourself if you prefer not to. If you'd like to pack some items yourself, we can handle the rest. We can also provide packing materials and supplies if you prefer to do it all yourself.

Question 11

What packing materials do you use?

Accepted Answer

We use professional-grade packing materials including double-walled boxes, bubble wrap, foam padding, protective wrapping, and crating materials where needed. Our team is trained in proper packing techniques for household goods, office contents, electronics, artwork, and fragile items.

Question 12

Can you help prepare cargo for sealift?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can assist with packing, palletizing, crating, staging, loading, and preparing cargo for seasonal sealift. We can also help load sea containers efficiently to protect your cargo during its journey north.

Question 13

Do you move people into and out of Nunavut?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We support relocations into, out of, and within Nunavut. This includes coordinating the local components of moves that involve air cargo, storage, and final delivery. We currently provide relocation services for Government of Nunavut employees and have experience with a wide range of residential and commercial relocations.

Question 14

How do you handle the challenges of northern logistics?

Accepted Answer

We've been operating in Nunavut since 2014, so northern logistics is what we do every day. We understand air cargo, sealift, community infrastructure, weather disruptions, and limited cargo capacity. When plans change — and in the North, they sometimes do — our team is experienced at finding solutions.

Question 15

Do you serve communities outside of Iqaluit?

Accepted Answer

Our primary base of operations is Iqaluit. For projects involving other Nunavut communities, contact us to discuss your specific requirements and we'll let you know how we can help.

Question 16

Can you coordinate air cargo pickups and deliveries?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can coordinate the local components of air cargo movements, including pickup from the cargo office, staging, temporary storage, and final-mile delivery. Our knowledge of Iqaluit's logistics environment helps us move shipments efficiently through each stage of their journey.
