The people behind every move
Our Team
Northern logistics is powered by people. Meet the leadership and workforce that make Nunavut Moving & Services work every day.
Northern Logistics Powered by People
Behind every successful move, delivery, shipment, and logistics project is a team of people working together. At Nunavut Moving & Services, our greatest asset is our workforce.
Our team brings together local knowledge, practical experience, logistics coordination, customer service, and an understanding of the unique operating environment of Nunavut.
A Team Rooted in Nunavut
NMS has made Inuit employment an important part of our business model since our earliest days. Over the years, Inuit employees have represented the large majority of our workforce.
We are particularly proud of the opportunities we have provided to young Nunavummiut seeking their first employment experience or an opportunity to strengthen their skills and employment history.
Our employees work across moving, packing, deliveries, warehousing, cargo handling, furniture assembly, driving, logistics, and customer service. We don't simply want people to work for NMS — we want their experience with NMS to help prepare them for whatever comes next.
Leadership
Nunavut Moving & Services combines community-focused leadership with professional business and operational management.
Abdoul-Karim Diakite
Owner
Abdoul-Karim has lived and worked in Nunavut for many years and brings extensive experience in leadership, public administration, project management, community development, and northern operations. His vision for NMS has always combined business development with social impact: build a strong northern company while creating employment opportunities for Nunavummiut.
Yacouba A. Samri
General Manager
Yacouba oversees the day-to-day management and operational coordination of Nunavut Moving & Services. With a background that includes graduate-level education in economics, he contributes business, financial, administrative, and operational expertise to the organization.
Together with our supervisors, drivers, movers, packers, warehouse personnel, and delivery staff, our management team ensures that projects are properly planned and executed.
Training Through Experience
Northern logistics requires practical skills. Our employees gain hands-on experience in areas such as:
For many employees, NMS provides an opportunity to develop transferable skills that can support long-term participation in Nunavut's workforce.
Respect Is Part of the Job
Our team enters people's homes, workplaces, warehouses, government offices, and businesses. That requires more than physical strength. It requires professionalism, discretion, patience, respect, and accountability.
Whether an employee is handling someone's personal belongings, confidential documents, valuable Inuit artwork, office equipment, or a parcel being delivered to a customer's home, we expect every item and every customer to be treated with care.
People Moving Nunavut
Trucks and equipment are important, but people make our company work. Our success belongs to the many Nunavummiut who have packed boxes, carried furniture, driven trucks, sorted parcels, assembled offices, worked in our warehouse, completed deliveries, and helped us solve the everyday challenges of operating a logistics company in the Arctic.
They are Nunavut Moving & Services.
